Warm Water at Open Water Swim UK

Open Water Swim UK looks forward to seeing you at the lake this week with the fine weather of last weekend and earlier this week the lake is a warm 20.0 degrees!

2XU is pleased to offer their free wetsuit rental service until the London Triathlon.

After that time the ex demonstration wetsuits will be available for sale. This will mean great end of the season bargains to be had.

Please be advised that after London Triathlon (which takes place on 10th and 11th August), we will not be able to guarantee a wetsuit and so advise you to bring you own wetsuit to the lake. Alternatively if you do not have one by then, 2XU have announced that you will be able to hire a wetsuit for only £5 per session, subject to availability.

Until August 10th , OWS continues to be the only lake that offers free wetsuits, whether you intend to buy, hire or just want something to swim in. We hope that this small change in policy after the London triathlon does not affect your open water swimming at Liquid Leisure.

Changing Rooms

The indoor changing rooms will close at 08.30am and we are providing benches at the rear of the building for the men and a new changing room for the Women from 08:00 onwards. Toilet facillities can be accessed in the usual way but through the bar after 08:30.

Open Water Swim UK is dedicated to helping you improve your open water swimming. Offering you the chance to train in open water for one of triathlon's most technical disciplines, it is our aim to deliver the complete open water swim package. You can choose to do your own session, pick the session of the day or for the ultimate personal touch organize your own coaching session with the best triathlon swimmer in the world!

Open Water Swim UK is based at Liquid Leisure, a stunning and picturesque lake set in heart of the Berkshire countryside. With fantastic facilities ranging from a friendly club house which offers hot food and drink to full changing plus a sauna and jacuzzi!

Take the wetsuit challenge

2XU are so sure that their wetsuits are faster in the water than any other brand that they will lend you a suit to test on the main 750m loop in the lake. Swim in your suit, then swim in a 2XU suit and compare the times. Next visit you can swim the 2XU first and then swim in your old suit and we bet you'll join the growing number who, like pro athletes Richard Stannard and Emma Davis, are finding that 2XU's suits simply can't be beaten!

All sizes of suit are available to test but we may not have more than one of each size available at any one time to test. We will do our best to help you out and to date have not failed to supply anyone with a wetsuit. We generally operate a first come first served policy but please feel free to email us if you have any specific questions or enquiries.

2008 programme

• Open 4 days a week: yes, due to popular demand we are now open on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings
• Sprint Aquathlon series: a series of five sprint distance aquathlons (750m swim, 5k run) structured to fit in with the season's key races. Oh, and there's £2,000 worth of 2XU kit up for grabs as well. Download the entry form here or Enter online here.
• GPS measured laps : we have buoyed-out 750m, 400m and 250m loops for accurate swim sets.
• Wireless internet access: we have set up a wireless internet facility at the lake which will be free to use for OWS customers -- catch up on your email before heading off to the office, so you can get a swim in and avoid the rush hour traffic while enjoying a coffee and one of the legendary bacon rolls. What better way to start the day?
• Hot food cooked to order at the Lakeside Diner which is now open every day; bacon rolls, cerals, croissants, full English and more!. Tea and coffee available at all times from the bar.
